An update of the last 2 years

20th May, 2012

Work on Alice is coming along quickly and I can't tell you how excited I am about it. We have a new writer on board, Stacey Evans who is a very funny and talented lady. Check out her amazing film Jean- A Life, which is becoming a bit of a You Tube hit. Do yourself a favour and have a watch!

We are still looking for actor/musicians for the show, so please visit Amarillo Arts to register your interest.

The music is in full swing and the team at Amarillo are really keen to get moving. We have a beautiful poster, a brilliant creative team and a great deal of imagination.

13th April, 2012

Our adaptation of Alice in Wonderland is moving in leaps and bounds!

We are very happy to announce that the very talented writer
Janis Contway has joined
the creative team to bring this lovely tale to life in verse. Nicholas Agnew is hard at work
writing tunes and the creative team is hard at work preparing for the rehearsal period.

Our adaptation will be performed on the 7th, 8th and 21st and 22nd of July so pencil it in
if you are around London in the summer. It will be presented in a lovely old pub outside
London, with food, drink and sunshine on offer. More details to follow shortly.

We will be announcing auditions shortly on here, Amarillo Arts' website, Facebook, Twitter (@AmarilloArts & @JanetLouPalmer) and LinkedIn.

Check out Amarillo Arts brilliant new website - www.amarilloarts.co.uk!

Are you ready to fall down the Rabbit hole?

This summer we are working on a new adaptaton of Alice In Wonderland for you.

In conjunction with Amarillo Arts, we are launching Project Tea Cup - Alice in Wonderland

then pop along to The Abinger Hatch this Easter Saturday for an afternoon Mad Hatter
Tea Party!

We are so excited about this production and will be announcing auditions in the next
month or so. Stay tuned!

11th March 2012

Yesterday, Wilkinson Ford took to the stage at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre
Pub. What followed for the next hour or so was two very funny ladies bringing the
audience to their knees with laugher!

I had a brilliant time working with these two and look forward to again.
Hopefully they be coming to a venue near you soon enough! Thanks to those
who came along. I have to admit, I love sketch comedy!

25th Febrary 2012

The sunshine has brought with it some good news. Production on the short film, The
Girl and the Hourglass was delayed due to illness in the team but it is now full steam
ahead. We will off to the editing suit shortly.

The talented writer, Phelon Manski is currently in Australia and is writing like a woman
possessed! I love her stories and can't wait to see what tales she has in line for us in
the future.

I am off to enjoy this sunshine!

23rd February 2012

I am very excited to announce that, in conjunction with Amarillo Arts, we have
commenced work on a regional summer project, Alice in Wonderland. We are currently
looking for a writer to join our team.

The aim of this project is to bring professional theatre to regional areas. The show will
performed in the garden and aims to appeal to children and adults. We aim to
incorporate music and physical theatre to tell the magical story of Alice.

If you are interested in being considered as the writer for the project, please visit the
'Future Productions' page on the Amarillo Arts website.

To be considered, we are asking for a 3- 5 page adaption of certain sections of Alice In
Wonderland. For details of the proposed sections, please visit the website linked above. Submissions will need to be sent to either lesley.free@amarilloarts.co.uk or theatre@amarilloarts.co.uk by 5pm on the 15th of March 2012.

We are a great collaborative team and can't wait to get working on this project!

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or queries.

18th February 2012

I had a meeting today with the funny Claire Ford who is one half of the comedy duo,
Wilkinson/Ford, to discuss their latest show.

They are currently working on a show which will premiere on
10th March, 5pm at the Lion
and Unicorn Theatre in Kentish town. I have been asked to give them a hand with their
show but I have to admit that I feel like a bit of a rent-a-laugh. I can't wait to get into
the rehearsal room with these two clever ladies!

Please come along and support these guys. Their show is fast paced, colourful and full
of giggles. I will let you know as soon as ticket links become available.

\

22nd January 2012

2012 has started with a bang! There are a couple of projects in the mixing bowl which
I am really excited about.

Wilkinson Ford, a very funny comedy duo have asked me onboard to direct their show. I
really enjoy watching these two and can't wait to work with them on their latest show.
I will post the details of their gig shortly.

Amarillo Arts are working on our proposal for a summer show and we will be able to say
more in the next month or so.

This year I have submitted a proposal for a collaborative production. Fingers and toes
crossed! When I have more news, I will let you know.

Hope your all having a great January!

30th December 2011

With 2011 drawing to a close, I have been reflecting on the last 12 months.
There have been many highlights, including going to the Edinburgh Festival
with Amarillo Arts, the Brighton Fringe Festival with Glasshouse Productions and the
Off Cut Festival
at Riverside Studios. It was a great experience to be in the Hen and
Chicken Theatre, the Cockpit Theatre and the Brockley Jack Theatre too.

I have worked with a great number of talented performers and cannot thank them all
enough for their contribution.

Here's to 2012 and all of the exciting opportunities it holds!

Happy New Year!

24th December 2011

'Who You Are' at the Brockley Jack Scratch Evening went really well, with audience
members giving feedback about the short peice. It was a great opportunity to showcase
any performance work (including poetry, comedy and music). The atmosphere was warm and generous within the beautiful theatre that is the Brockley Jack.

Thank you again to Maddy Agnew, Mark Conway, Claire Ford, Nicholas Agnew,
Isabel
Caetano da Rocha
and the crew at the Brockley Jack.

I am en route to sunny Australia for Christmas with my family so I will take this
opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I am particularly excited about 2012 and look forward to working on some great projects
in the New Year.

16th December 2011

I thought I would share with you some pictures of our rehearsal for 'Who You Are' which
will be performed at the Brockley Jack Scratch night this Sunday from 6pm.

There has been a slight change to the casting, but you will see the likes of Madeleine
Cooke, Nicholas Agnew, Claire Ford and Mark Conway. These guys are a talented bunch
and a group of people who I love to work with.

Hope to see you there!

27th November 2011

I am looking forward to the December's 'Scratch at the Jack' which is hosted by the

Brockley Jack Theatre
. The short play that I am working on is called 'Who You Are'.

Please come and support the night. I am really looking forward to working with some
great actors, but I am still looking for one more cast member. Please contact me if you
would like to be involved.

Samantha Morrish                Nicholas Agnew              Mark Conway

Come and check out the short called 'Who You Are' written by Isabel Caetano da Rocha.
The play will be performed on the 18th of December 2011 at the Brockley Jack Theatre
along with a few other short plays.

Tickets are only £7 and you get to see a number of short plays in the evening. Tickets
are available through the Brockley Jack Theatre.

20th November 2011

Today I am collecting the footage for the short film 'The Girl and Hourgalss'. With the
assistance of my good friend Stuart Slavicky, we will commence the editing process. Our
last filming day was back in May so it will be great to come to the editing suite after a
period of time to carefully weave it together.

Thank you so much Gaby Schmidt, Nick Agnew, Phelon Manski, Cate Blanchard and
Stuart Slavicky
for your help on this project so far. I can't wait to see what we have!

The aim is to get it finished to present in early 2012.

18th November 2011

December marks another opportunity to come and support new writing!

The wonderful people at the Brockley Jack Theatre hold an event 'Scratch at the Jack'
to showcase new writing. I am looking forward to directing a short piece called 'Who Are
You' written by
Isabel Caetano da Rocha.

I am currently
casting and can't wait to work with Isabel to bring this script to life.
The play will be performed on the 18th of December 2011 at the Brockley Jack Theatre.
Tickets are only £7 and you get to see a number of short plays in the evening.

Why not check out this month's Scratch night? It's on Sunday the 20th!

15th November 2011

Doing some research into family shows.....

I found these gorgeous illustrations done by
Mari Katogi ...  I really like her style.

Oh and then I found this!

It doesn't list who the artist is but it is very cool.

There are some very talented artists around! 2012 is shaping up to be a very interesting
year! Stay tuned!

12th November 2011

Yesterday marked the deadline for the New Wimbledon Theatre Fresh Ideas applications
for their Spring 2012 season. I lodged an application with a great script called The Prize
written by Richard Fitchett who I met at Off Cut 2010.

It's a great absurdist comedy that we look forward to workshoping for the season in 2012.

5th November 2011

With 2011 threatening to end soon, I am forced to sit down and start putting my head
down and look at projects for next year. With 2 cups of coffee finished and every mundane
distraction completed, I can avoid it no more. Procrastination time is over.

I have started 'Project Jack' and interviews and research are on the move (allbeit at a
snails pace). The next two months will be recon missions to explore spaces and locations.

Plans for a return to the absurdist genre are on the table. I couldn't be happier - a bit
of random fun!

At this stage, 2012 involves working with writers on new works, a few stand alone projects
in film and theatre, and some freelance work. Perhaps I should buy a 2012 diary now!

Happy Bonfire night!

17th October 2011

London (personal opinion)!

7th August 2011

The Edinburgh Fringe! Wow. What an atmosphere! We arrived on Thursday night and
had a tech and preview on Friday. We hit the Royal Mile to do some flying. There were
people everywhere - flying is not an easy job in that environment! Surrounded with a
range of costumes, music, accents, statues and rain, it was apparent how much talent
was located in the proximity.

We opened in Edinburgh with previews on Friday and Saturday. With a couple of technical
set backs, I leave Edinburgh with the knowledge that we have a solid and interesting show.
If you are in Edinburgh, the show is at The Space at Surgeon's Hall.

After catching a few shows and seeing so many familiar faces, London calls and I find
myself on the train again. Thank you Edinburgh - we shall meet again!

Please pop in to see the Yellow Wallpaper if your up this way! Thank you to Lesley Free,
Jon J, John R, Olivia Mace and the crew for the opprtunity to work on such a great show.

25th July 2011

The London preview of Yellow Wallpaper went really well. We were fortunate enough to
have Andrew Taylor from Remote Goat attend to review the show. If you would like to
have a read of his thoughts please click here.

The next stage of the plan is to kick on to the Edinburgh Festival. We have been back
to the drawing board to discuss changes to the script, set and lighting to fine tune areas.
I am looking forward to heading up there - this is my first year up there so I can't wait to
see as many of the shows as possible.

We have also launched a blog spot where you can keep up to date with our show - Yellow Wallpaper Blog.

August os going to be a brilliant month! Hope to see you in Edinburgh.

8th June 2011

On the 21st - 25th of June, Yellow Wallpaper will be performed at The Hen and Chicken Theatre Pub in Islington. This show will be going to Edinbourgh in August for the Fringe Festival.

We had a wonderful run of 'From the Devil They Came' at the Birghton Festival! I have put some photos of the show for those of you who missed it.

A special thanks to the wonderful cast - Nicholas Agnew, Maddy Cooke, Stacey Evans, Jack Kelly and Sean Turner.

17th of May 2011

So, things are in progress with the Brighton show 'From the Devil They Came'. We are
running the show and looking forward to opening on the 24th at the Iambic Arts Theatre
at 3pm.

Please come along and support this great comedy. Why not have a look at our second
teaser for the show ~
16th May 2011

Last week I was given the opportunity to direct a show in the Brave and the Bold Festival
with Made from Scratch at the Cockpit Theare.

I was given the play Brave Butterflies, written by Dana Gartland and a cast including Ailidh Ogilvie, Peter McKinney and Rob Plumbly. The process was a quick one with only 2
rehearsals but the outcome was fantastic.

The Brave and the Bold Festival celebrated the creative process, bringing together poets, writers, actors and directors to provide an opportunity to support the arts and network.
As a participant, I found it an incredibly rewarding experience.

In the wake of budget cuts, it is nice to know that we have theatre companies who are prepared to work together to provide performance opportunities and audiences.

25th April 2011

Last week we commenced rehearsals for our Brighton Festival Show 'From the Devil
they Came
' at the Actor Works in Wapping.

After a week of rehearsal, the characters are coming to life with a series of comedy
sketches written by Nicholas Agnew of Glasshouse Productions.

To give you a taster of the show, we will be giving you little video snippets. Here is the first.

Below are a couple of rehearsal photos for you all. If you are in London or UK, please
consider coming over to Brighton to see the show.

Is it just me or does this year seem to be going so quickly! I have been having a wonderful time with the cast and crew of the short film 'The Girl and the Hourglass'. We have been
filming the last couple of weekends and the  London weather has been outstanding. With
about 2 scenes left to shoot, the editing process will begin. Cate Blanchard has been on the project as DOP and I can't wait to see what she does with it.

We have great actors on board too! Gaby Schmidt and Nick Agnew (who are pictured
below).

I have some photos of filming that I thought I would share.

I have been amazed of late how talented people around me are! I mentioned that we are working on the play adaption of 'The Yellow Wallpaper'. The very creative Victoria
Kitchingman has come up with yet another amazing design for our latest adaption. If you
love design, I would strongly suggest that you have a look at her website.

It's been a really busy couple of weeks getting everything ready for this year's festival! The
big news for this year is the change of venue. We have now moved to the
Riverside
Studios
in Hammersmith. Rather than presenting just 24 plays, Off Cut 2011 will be
presenting 24 short plays picked by the reading panel and an additional 4 short plays that
will be picked by our bloggers panel. This means more opportunities for writers, actors and directors!

Off Cut Festival is different to most other short play festivals because the audience votes
on their favourite plays! Keep an eye open for further announcements on the offical
website -
www.theoffcutfestival.com.

This years festival plans to be bigger and better in every sense!

We are accepting 15 minutes plays for submission. Check out the website for the rules and
regulations of the writing submissions.

You got to be in it to win it!

The festival has been running since 2009. Bender was the production written by the 2009 winner Anna Jordon. 2010's winner has his play 'Sweet Engineering of Lucid Mind' being produced at the Hen and Chicken Theatre Pub from the 29th of March to the 2nd of April. Please visit their website for tickets.

A surreal farce, with bold characters and bad
behaviour, headed by actor Nicholas Agnew and a group of talented comedy performers.

Nicholas Agnew
Glasshouse Productions is a new Brighton based theatre company, headed by actor
Nick Agnew, who has scripted this Farce (with additional material from the cast).

Presented, in the main, in glorious Technicolor, From the Devil They Came, follows the traditions of the best of British comedy, drawing inspiration from performers such as Monty Python, the Goons, and the Alternative Comedy Movement.
This play is a visual treat, transporting us through improbable and hilarious situations, as a multitude of characters deliver a story guaranteed to make our tummies ache with
laughter.

Storyline..after accidentally raising one of the Seven Princes of Hell, snotty young Todd,
Sir Lord Leslie Creep, is unable to rid himself of the fiend. In a bid to make the best of the situation, Creep makes a deal; in exchange for his wildest hopes and dreams, he’ll sell a soul..but it won’t be his own!  After being elevated to the heights he was born to enjoy,
Creep’s success should be secured. But life is difficult at the top, especially when one is surrounded by a plethora of characters, all crying for the audience’s attention, a plot that is unhelpfully surreal and the devil on your shoulder demanding payment!

2011, and it's shaping up to be a brilliant festival! To sign up for notifications, please visit

at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Due to current Arts Council funding cuts independent
artists are forced to go it alone. Your donation helps us continue to produce original and dynamic theatre, introduce new writers and provide a platform for the very best emerging
talent. Please help to keep the arts alive and donate at

12th November 2010

Amarillo Arts held a fundraising event to take the show 'Yellow Wallpaper' starring
Lesley Free, to Edinburgh in 2011. It was a great night with a showcase of many
talented performers and designs and artwork by Jonathon Jewitt. To find out how you
can support this show, please visit the link below.

'Following the success of The Yellow Wallpaper at Ye Olde Theatre Pub, Walthamstow in February 2010, this play has been developed into a one-woman show where our heroine
takes the audience into her confidence as she gradually loses her grip on reality and loses herself in the walls of her sick room. It is a thought provoking, dramatic and beautiful
piece which we aim to take to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2011. However, to do this we
need your help!

Due to current Arts Council funding cuts independent artists are forced to go it alone. Your donation helps us continue to produce original and dynamic theatre, introduce new writers
and provide a platform for the very best emerging talent.'
